As you may know, our very own Hannah Wood (age 13) is a Girl Scout and has been working towards earning the Girl Scout Silver Award. As part of this process, she decided she would build a community library. "I think it's important for kids to read and enjoy books. It makes you smarter and informs you about things you don't know, " said Hannah Wood.
Over the last several months, Hannah raised funds by holding bake sales, setting up lemonade stands, and babysitting. She raised all the funds necessary to buy the paint and building supplies. With the help of her family, she built the Harvest Community Library. Harvest homeowners got involved by donating books to stock the shelves. Additionally, homeowner Anna Schmidt helped Hannah with the finishing look by painting the library sign.
The Harvest Community Library is located on the side of the Farmhouse. It is managed by the community and will run on the honor code where you can take-a-book and leave-a-book. Please ensure that the book you leave is appropriate for children's eyes.
Thank you Hannah for this wonderful addition to our neighborhood! We have already seen children reading the books!
