Hello, Harvest Community!
It seems the world has changed since Covid-19 a year and a half ago, and much has been learned about focusing on what really is important and of value in Life.
Moving forward, many have seen a greater need to connect with and take responsibility for their food supply chain.
While it is the hottest time of the year, we can begin looking at starting transplants inside to plant outside in our gardens in September. Items I recommend planting in trays or pots indoors now are:
Swiss chard
Cucumbers
Winter squash (pumpkins, acorn, butternut)
Kales
Broccoli
As always, I would hold off on root vegetables (carrots, beets, turnips) until you can sow directly in the ground in the next 1-2 months.
Begin thinking what you want to grow, order necessary seeds, and get them started now for a jumpstart on your fall garden!
Our winter CSA will also begin in October: 2 months of local food delivered to your door for one price. Please contact farmer Ross at rossdeotte@gmail.com
Happy Growing,
Farmer Ross
